  1. Resource Description
    "The Exercise Medicine Unit offers exercise training and testing services. The exercise training room contains: • treadmills, • arc trainer, • recumbent bike, • functional trainer, • adjustable bench, • and a power block area. It is staffed by a full-time, certified exercise trainer who can help design exercise training protocols and administer them to clinical research study participants. Exercise interventions can be designed to occur onsite at the Mutch building or for community/home settings. Consultations to assist with design of exercise intervention protocols are available. Exercise testing services include a recumbent exercise bike and a motorized treadmill, with adjacent ECG monitoring, metabolic cart and VO2 max measurements, and anaerobic power testing. Additional testing services include grip strength, six minute walk tests, and gait speed. Objective Physical Function tests (e.g. SPPB, TUG, and PPT) can also be done by the staff of this unit. Consultations to assist with designing exercise testing protocols are available."
