  1. Resource Description
We are Penn Center for Mental Health (CMH), the premier academic center for advancing mental health research, policy, training and practice. Our dedicated, multidisciplinary faculty and staff connect research and evaluation findings to policy decisions and to delivery and implementation of services to improve the lives of people with psychiatric and developmental disabilities. CMH was founded in 1984 at the Perelman School of Medicine at the University of Pennsylvania and is nationally recognized for its research, technical assistance, practice and academic training in adult and children’s mental health services. Since then, we have been a champion for people living with or at-risk for mental health problems, supporters of the people and programs responsible for creating policy and system change, and have conducted rigorous research, and have provided unparalleled community partnerships and research training for undergraduate, graduate, doctoral and postdoctoral trainees. Our work continues to increase the likelihood that people currently living with mental health needs are treated with techniques proven to result in more positive outcomes.
